The Sylvan Street Story

Sylvan Street Grille opened at 12 Sylvan Street in Peabody in 1989. Originally known as Vic's Drive-In and Donut Shop, it was founded by the Tremblay family in early 1950. It also featured mini-golf.

Ernie Tremblay, Jr., the third generation, convinced the family to invest more than $1 million to convert Vic's into a true neighborhood bar and grille. The goals would remain the same . . . provide great food at reasonable prices, but most importantly, in a casual and comfortable atmosphere. We began selling fried clams, hot dogs, hamburgers, donuts, and coffee from a facility built out of renovated chicken coops! Now in its fourth generation owner, Cody Tremblay will strive to provide the same goals and growth to what has become a local favorite neighborhood bar and grille.

It's hard to believe how we've grown . . . In October 1994, the second Sylvan Street Grille opened in Salisbury, Massachusetts, located at 195 Elm Street on Route 110. A little smaller with a different feel, this site has demonstrated tremendous growth over the years as well. The goals, values, and philosophy since day one have been simple: "Pay Attention to the Details." Essen Foods Inc., the parent company of the Sylvan Street Grille, sets the highest standards for quality food and liquor, service, atmosphere, cleanliness, and most importantly, providing guests with a positive experience.
